Conferences and Panels

A.M.M.A.A. was a part of Connecting Motherhood Networks, an online conference organised by IntAkt on the theme of motherhood and contemporary art.  As A.M.M.A.A.’s founder Ruchika Wason Singh participated in this conference which brought together mother artist-projects and feminist initiatives across Europe and Asia to share their work and look into future possibilities of collaboration and information sharing. Some of the participants in the workshop had also previously collaborated with A.M.M.A.A.

Alongside Yazbeck and Elena Victoria Pasto, Ruchika Wason Singh participated in a session at Joy & Pain, BGHRA Annual Online Conference 2024 where they shared their works that engaged with the experiences of joy and pain in their lives. Ruchika Wason Singh presented her work as an artist, researcher, and activist beginning with her project ‘Transit Spaces’ (2001-2008) and work done under A.M.M.A.A. including online talks, onsite artist residency programs and projects such as ‘Seeking a Common Ground Looking at the other (m)other’.

In April 2024, as A.M.M.A.A.’s founder, Ruchika Wason Singh spoke as a panelist for a discussion on ‘Women in the Contemporary Socio-Cultural Context’ organised at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. The event was organised in conjunction with the ongoing exhibition Shakti-Fair and Fierce which was curated by Sushma K Bahl.

Presentations, Talks and Workshops

In November 2019, Ruchika Wason Singh conducted a presentation titled ‘Between the Self and the Social: Designing the Feminist Space for Mother Artists’ at Amberdkar University. Her talk focused on A.M.M.A.A. and her contribution to the edited volume Inappropriate Bodies: Art, Design, and Maternity in which she has a chapter discussing A.M.M.A.A. in conversation with one of the editors Rachel Epp-Buller. The talk explored the social relevance of designing beyond visual design and finding new sites and spaces where the sub-identity of the mother-artists redefines the boundaries of feminist concerns.

Podcast Episodes

Ruchika Wason Singh, alongside Weronika Zielinska, was featured in a an episode of ‘Renewing the World’, a project by Rachel Epp-Buller, Charles Reeve & Elena Marchevska who research on caregiving, notions of time and practising motherhood. The conversion focused attention on residency programmes created by participating artists which blurred lines between home and studio and spotlighting women who balance the competing demands of art and motherhood. She also recorded a podcast episode with Woman up! (Series 3, Episode 3),

Art campaigns

A.M.M.A.A. participated in a campaign with MdK*B for International Women's Day for converting the under-construction museum ‘berlin modern’ into a women’s museum to amplify the arts made by women. This was inspired from the symbolic rededication of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. As a participant as A.M.M.A.A.’s founder, Ruchika Wason Singh submitted a letter validating the need for greater visibility of women in the arts and celebrated the successful rededication.

Instagram Lives

Representing A.M.M.A.A. as its founder, Ruchika Wason Singh  participated in an Instagram live event titled ‘Mother/Artist-Lunch/Break’ with Catherine Ricketts in January 2021. Catherine Ricketts is a Philadelphia-based writer, arts administrator, and mother and hosts an Instagram Live series called the Mother/Artist Lunch/Break which explores the unique tensions and harmonies between the two vocations.
